Dylan Arnot
Coaching and Clinical Psychologist
BA, PostGradDipPsych, MScCoachPsych, MPsych (Clinical)
Hi, I’m Dylan Arnot, a Clinical and Coaching Psychologist specialising in ADHD.
I work with adults and adolescents who are experiencing difficulties with attention, motivation, organisation, emotional regulation, procrastination, overwhelm and follow-through.
Many of my clients are intelligent, capable and ambitious, but find that everyday life can feel more difficult than it seems it should. They may perform well in some areas while struggling significantly in others. They may understand what they need to do, but still find it hard to begin, stay consistent or complete important tasks.
My role is to help you better understand how ADHD affects you and develop practical, realistic strategies that work in your actual life.
ADHD support tailored to you
ADHD can affect far more than concentration.
It may influence how you manage time, start tasks, regulate emotions, organise your life, maintain routines, navigate relationships and respond to pressure.
You may be seeking support with:
Procrastination and task initiation
Motivation and inconsistent follow-through
Planning, organisation and prioritisation
Time management and lateness
Distractibility and difficulty sustaining attention
Emotional regulation and impulsivity
Overwhelm, stress and burnout
Perfectionism and all-or-nothing thinking
Work, study or academic performance
Relationship and communication difficulties
Low confidence, shame or self-criticism
Adjusting after a recent ADHD diagnosis
Building routines that are realistic and sustainable
Therapy is tailored to your specific needs, strengths, environment and goals.
ADHD therapy after diagnosis
Receiving an ADHD diagnosis can bring relief, but it can also raise new questions.
You may begin looking back at your life differently. Past difficulties with school, work, relationships, motivation or self-esteem may start to make more sense.
At the same time, a diagnosis does not automatically tell you what to do next.
I help clients translate an ADHD diagnosis into meaningful, practical change. This may include:
Understanding your individual ADHD profile
Identifying the situations in which you function best
Developing systems for planning and organisation
Improving task initiation and completion
Managing emotional intensity and frustration
Reducing shame and unhelpful self-criticism
Building more sustainable work and study habits
Clarifying strengths, values and long-term goals
Integrating psychological support with medical treatment
Where appropriate, I can work collaboratively with your GP, psychiatrist or other treating professionals.
ADHD coaching and clinical psychology
My approach combines clinical psychology with coaching psychology.
Clinical psychology can help address anxiety, burnout, emotional regulation, self-esteem, avoidance and other psychological difficulties that commonly occur alongside ADHD.
Coaching psychology focuses more directly on action, behaviour change, performance, accountability and creating practical systems.
Bringing these approaches together allows us to work on both the deeper psychological patterns and the everyday challenges of living with ADHD.
Sessions are not simply about being told to use a diary, make a list or try harder.
We work together to understand what gets in the way, why certain strategies have not lasted and how to design an approach that better fits your brain, your responsibilities and your life.
Adult ADHD psychologist Melbourne
I work with adults across a wide range of life stages and professions.
Some clients seek ADHD support after years of feeling overwhelmed, inconsistent or unable to meet their own expectations. Others have recently been diagnosed and want help understanding what the diagnosis means for their work, relationships and identity.
Adults may seek support for:
Managing competing work and family demands
Difficulty completing administrative tasks
Chronic procrastination
Career uncertainty or underperformance
Burnout from constantly compensating
Inconsistent productivity
Emotional reactivity
Relationship strain
Parenting with ADHD
High achievement that feels difficult to sustain
I also work with professionals, leaders, athletes and creatives whose ADHD may interact with high expectations, demanding schedules and performance pressure.
ADHD psychologist for adolescents
I support adolescents with ADHD who may be struggling with school, study, motivation, confidence, emotional regulation or increasing independence.
Adolescence can be particularly challenging for young people with ADHD as academic demands rise and they are expected to manage more of their own time, planning and responsibilities.
Support may focus on:
Homework and study habits
Motivation and task initiation
Organisation and time management
Emotional regulation
Confidence and self-esteem
Managing school pressure
Developing independence
Understanding ADHD without feeling defined by it
Communication with parents and teachers
I aim to work collaboratively with adolescents, while involving parents appropriately and respectfully.
ADHD, anxiety and burnout
ADHD often occurs alongside other challenges.
Many clients also experience anxiety, panic, low mood, perfectionism, stress, sleep difficulties or burnout.
Sometimes these difficulties develop after years of trying to compensate for ADHD without fully understanding it. A person may become highly self-critical, overwork to keep up or avoid tasks because they feel overwhelming.
My clinical psychology training allows us to address these overlapping difficulties rather than treating ADHD in isolation.
My approach
My style is warm, practical, collaborative and evidence-based.
I draw on:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Coaching psychology
Behavioural and executive-functioning strategies
Strengths-based and values-focused approaches
I aim to create a supportive space where you can speak openly about what is happening without feeling judged or misunderstood.
The goal is not to change who you are.
It is to help you understand yourself more clearly, reduce unnecessary struggle and build ways of working and living that are more effective, sustainable and aligned with what matters to you.
